When is there a better time to (re)introduce a new blog than a brand spankin’ new year! I’ve always been a little anti-New Years resolutions. Mainly because I am horrible at following through and meeting my goals. So why set myself up for failure? But I’m a grown up and feeling like one finally, so I’m not only setting 2018 goals for myself, but I’m actually feeling good about meeting them! I like calling them goals vs resolutions because goals take time to reach, so if I mess up, I can just keep trying.
I’ve skipped over the obvious ones- eating healthy, losing weight, save money, pay off debt because blah blah blah. I know I said I’m feeling like an adult, but baby steps people!
Here are some of my goals for the year:
- Give up soda (again). About 2 1/2 years ago, I gave up soda for good. This wasn’t an easy task and I was so proud of myself for not only giving it up but also not craving it. About a year went by and I decided, a little soda here or there wouldn’t be that bad. The first few times I had some, I didn’t even like the taste. Coke is great because it gives me caffeine and a sugar pick-up which I always welcome. Anyways, a soda here or there has now turned back into my full-fledged soda addiction, so I have to say goodbye. 😦
- Step out of my comfort zone. Anyone that knows me, knows that I am not exactly an extrovert. I am a homebody and really like to stay in my bubble. It took me a while to accept that being an introvert was okay, that there was nothing wrong with being quiet and enjoying my alone time. That being said, I sometimes use that as an excuse to not challenge myself. So for 2018- I’d like to get out of my comfort zone. What this means to me is to say yes to things I’d normally decline, try something I’d normally avoid, visit somewhere new, eat something different… you get the idea!
- Use my time in a more effective way. Can I be honest? I’m pretty lazy. I have to work hard to not let my lazy ways take over. I love sleep. I’m completely okay with doing absolutely nothing all day long. I feel no guilt for wasting a few hours watching dumb tv shows. I’m not trying to change any of this. I do know though, that I make “chores” take much longer then they need to because I get distracted and waste my time. Ever find yourself in a Facebook daze, looking at the page of someone that knows the cousin of the neighbor of the kid that sat next to you in math class? Yeah, me. Every single day. I’d like to spend 2018 spending more quality time with the people I love and/or doing something I love. I’d rather spend time learning a new skill or developing a new hobby. I’m not trying to be busier but just use my time more wisely so I have more time to do the things I love.
- Blog! Well, I can check this one off! Okay, my goal is actually to blog consistently (aka not twice a year). I have a planner with goals written out and I’m excited to see what 2018 holds. Even if there are only 2 people reading this, I’m vowing to keep it up!
What about you? Do you make resolutions or goals each year? If so, wanna share?
Til next time,
