Hello all!

So I’ll never pretend to know everything about anything or anything about everything but I do enjoy spending money and figured I should be trying to justify my spending by blogging about things I’ve bought. I haven’t gotten to the point where I can write off my receipts yet, but one day! A girl can dream right?

So my favorites today are all from Trader Joe’s, which if you don’t know of them, is a smaller grocery store with a island/tiki hut vibe, the friendlies employees, and laid back atmosphere. They offer less product, most of them bearing the Trader Joe’s brand, but they are very tuned into what their customers want and strive to keep those items in the store, rotating out any items that are not popular sellers.  For being a store that prides itself on organic, environmentally friendly, unique items, it is very reasonably priced.

When I lived in Los Angeles, Trader Joe’s was my go-to grocery store. In Virginia, there was one an hour away that I’d visit if I was in the area but didn’t get a chance to go there often.

Here in NC, we have one about 25 minutes away. It’s not convenient enough to do our weekly grocery shopping, but we are trying to get there at least once a month to stock up on our favorites.

Trader Joe’s Vanilla Greek Yogurt

I don’t typically like yogurt. You couldn’t pay me to eat the kind that comes with the fruit at the bottom. Gross.

Okay fine, I probably would eat it for the right offer. Like I said earlier, I like to spend money, so I obviously need to make money to spend money.

On a whim, I decided to try greek yogurt to see if my tastes had matured… And come to find out, they have! But since babies and toddlers are the main consumers of yogurt, maybe my tastes haven’t matured, but actually gotten less mature? Side note. What is the difference between greek and non-Greek yogurt? I haven’t researched it on Wikipedia to find out, so I’m asking you.

Regardless, I like it and after adding some granola to it (see below) I now have my usual mid-afternoon snack.

FYI. I should have prefaced this whole post by saying that nothing I am telling you about is “healthy”. It’s delicious and let’s be real for a second, you aren’t reading this blog for health tips. My food typically has real dairy, lots of gluten, and may or may not be unintentionally organic. PS. If you thought Trader Joe’s only sold healthy organic food, they don’t. I kept telling myself they did, whenever I bought these delicious cookies (see below) but then I looked at the nutritional label.

Trader Joe’s Organic Fruit and Seed Granola

Granola can be tricky because it usually feels and tastes like it should be healthy, but that’s not always the case. But I have found that this partnered with the above-mentioned yogurt, is the perfect snack as it’s filling and helps keep those pesky hunger pangs away (for a little while a least)! This granola contains clusters of seeds, coconut, cranberries and raisins. Even my husband, who doesn’t like fruit, didn’t mind this granola.

Trader Joe’s Salad Kits

Bob and I are typically creatures of habit when it comes to our breakfast and lunches, eating the same thing pretty much ever day. These salad kits are one of our favorite go-to work-week lunches. They are fantastic because 1 kit is the perfect size to split between us and it includes dressing and toppings. We usually get turkey or chicken and add that to the salad and we are set. Disclosure: you can get these salads at any grocery store you should definitely check them out!

Trader Joe’s Mandarin Orange Chicken

This chicken is legit. The bomb. Freaking delicious. This is easy to make and is so so good. Pair it with the Jasmine rice below and you’ve got an easy meal that is much easier (and quicker!) than ordering Chinese takeout. Trust me- you’ll thank me later.

Trader Joe’s Crispy Crunchy Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Warning: it may be hard, nearly impossible to stop eating these cookies. Acknowledging that at the beginning is helpful.

These are so good. They are light and crispy (which may be the reason it’s easy to eat so many!). There are many other cookie options at Trader Joe’s, but I haven’t even tried those because I don’t want to mess with a good thing. PS. They are perfect coffee dunkers.

I’m not sure why, but I love their flower selections. They are fairly priced, colorful and have a lot of variety!

So that’s my list of some of my favorite Trader Joe’s finds.

What are your Trader Joe’s must-haves? I’d love to try some try out some other stuff and add to my list of favorites!

  1. Well I haven’t been to TJ’s in about 3 years because JT is not really close but when I did go..I loved their longboard chips perfect for dipping, the bbq chicken pizza, their lunch meat (it was nitrate free and was cheaper!). I know there is other things but I can’t remeber but thanks for this list. Makes me want to go to TJ now and try that chicken!
