Goals

Atkins.

Grapefruit Diet.

Mayo Clinic Diet.

High Protein, Low Carb.

Juice Cleanses.

You name it, I’ve tried it.

I’ve always had an unhealthy relationship with food. Food is my go-to when I’m happy as well as when I’m sad, stressed, excited, bored, well you get the idea.

My last diet worked well, but it was so restrictive that when I had a “cheat” meal, I found myself going crazy, gaining back pounds that I had worked so hard to get off. I ate the same blah food day after day. I did lose weight and felt great, but it didn’t help address my issues with food. It just added an extra guilt to eating that definitely did not help!

Since February, I’ve been working out with a trainer a couple of times a week and trying to eat healthier. While I haven’t gained, I also haven’t lost and since maintaining isn’t my goal right now, I knew I needed a switch up! I feel stronger and see a difference in my workouts, but I wanted to see the visible differences.

So after researching and talking to friends who have had great success, I joined Weight Watchers. I knew I needed structure and what I was currently doing wasn’t working.

For the first time, I’m really learning how to look at food in a healthy way. Food is not a bad thing, but it can’t (and shouldn’t) control my life.

I’ve always dreaded diets because I’m afraid I’m going to be hungry, miss my favorite foods, and not be able to enjoy dinner out with friends.

Last week I felt satisfied, but not stuffed. I had ice cream, but a 1 serving not a whole pint. I went out to dinner a few times, but made better decisions and still had delicious meals.

I’m new at this, so by no means am I claiming to be an expert on anything, but I really believe in this and I’m excited to see the changes that I know are going to come!

Weight Watchers is big on setting goals besides losing weight. Here are a few goals that I’ve set for the rest of 2018:

  • Hit 10K steps 7 days in a row.
  • Complete three 5K races by the end of 2018.
  • Go on an overnight backpacking trip in the fall.

I’d love to have you join me on this journey! Whether you want to lose weight, get healthier, or you just want to follow my progress, you can find my health-journey focused Instagram at @ginigetskinny.
